My passion for Sea Glass started when I was a little girl wandering the beaches
with my father in Mexico on our first family trip. I was fascinated with the
little pieces of smooth glass we found littering the beach. This memory
simmered in the back of my mind until it hit a boiling point two years ago when
my partner, Paul and I took our first vacation to Prince Edward Island. We
spent hours walking the shores and were rewarded with several nice pieces. On
our last visit to PEI, we were specifically looking for Sea Glass. We found
quite a bit as we spent most of our time combing the beaches with our dogs having the
time of their lives exploring the sand along with us. Our Basset Hound, Annabelle, and
our Doberman, Dylan probably thought we were crazy looking down instead
of looking up or around! With all of the glass we found, the question
remained of what to do with it. I met a local woman who showed me the
basics of how to wrap and since then, it has blossomed into an artistic hobby.
2012 promises to be an exciting year for me. I have plans of attending several local craft shows
and am taking orders. Through networking, I have discovered several sources who are going to
find me more glass from the East Coast until I can get out there again to look on my own. It is very important
to me to know that the glass I use is authentic and not machine tumbled and for that reason, I will not
buy my glass online.
